Houston (ots/PRNewswire) – Ascend Performance Materials will showcase its latest materials for electric mobility at Battery Show Europe this week. Among other products, Ascend will showcase a new color-stable version of its flame-retardant Starflam® polyamides; its new Vydyne® AVS for damping noise, vibration and shock; and Trinohex® Ultra, its REACH-registered electrolyte additive.
Ascend has developed its flame retardant PA66 525K Starflam in a color-stable orange version. This is laser-markable, withstands long-term heat aging over 5,000 hours, and maintains its electrical properties, including a UL 94 flammability rating of V-0 at 0.2 mm. This new color-stable grade was developed for use in high-voltage connectors and busbars.
Vydyne AVS, Ascend’s new anti-vibration material, will also be featured. Specifically designed to dampen high-frequency vibrations from EV engines and compressors, AVS is an effective NVH solution that mitigates noise in the cab without adding complexity or weight.
In addition, Ascend will also introduce its Trinohex Ultra electrolyte additive, which improves the performance, safety and longevity of lithium-ion batteries. In third-party testing, Trinohex Ultra has demonstrated superior cathode protection for all cathode and electrolyte chemistries. This protection results in 30% less formation of harmful gases and longer life, especially under extreme conditions.
