Brandstätter meets with Speaker of Parliament Stefantschuk and MPs

Vienna (PK) – The chairman of the bilateral parliamentary group Austria-Ukraine Helmut Brandstätter (NEOS) travels to Kiev and Lviv for talks. In addition to a meeting with the Ukrainian Speaker of Parliament Ruslan Stefantschuk, Brandstätter will meet, among others, with the deputies of the bilateral parliamentary group in the Verkhovna Rada in Kiev.

This will continue the parliamentary exchange between the Austrian and Ukrainian parliaments following Stefantschuk’s speech in the National Council in June and numerous discussions between the committees. All parliamentary groups recently spoke out in the National Council in favor of a swift investigation and prosecution of alleged war crimes in the course of the Russian war of aggression. According to the resolution adopted, Austria should work at the international and European level to ensure that evidence of war crimes and human rights violations can be systematically evaluated and that criminal proceedings can be carried out quickly.
