Hollywood, Florida (ots/PRNewswire) – The legendary multiple Grammy winner kicked off his historic London tour at the Hard Rock Cafe with a private performance and memorabilia exchange
As part of a legendary moment in music history, multiple Grammy winner Elton John presented his iconic Gucci suit to the famed Hard Rock Memorabilia Collection at the Old Park Lane Hard Rock, where he also made a small group appearance during the festival. The signature Gucci outfit is a scarf lapel jacket that was swapped out for Elton’s legendary Dodger uniform, previously seen at the Hard Rock Cafe. The suit was worn during the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour and now joins Hard Rock’s collection of more than 86,000 iconic pieces of music and entertainment worldwide.
As an added surprise, Hard Rock donated $100,000 to the Elton John AIDS Foundation, coinciding with the conclusion of Hard Rock International’s 50th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of Elton’s album Madman Across the Water . Pictures can be found here.
The collection of Hard Rock memorabilia began at the Old Park Lane Hard Rock London, the first Hard Rock Cafe. Eric Clapton marked his favorite spot in the cafe by hanging his guitar on the wall. Now, 50 years later, Elton is adding another piece to the world’s largest and most valuable collection of authentic music memorabilia at Hard Rock.
