On June 27, Gotion High-Tech hosted the 5th New Energy Economic Forum and the opening ceremony of Gotion Germany at its site in Göttingen. It is noted that the Göttingen site, Gotion’s first battery production and business operation site in Europe, is expected to start conversion by the end of this year. Chairman Li Zhen said that Gotion perfectly combines China’s advanced battery technology with Germany’s advanced process technology, enabling Gotion battery production in Europe. At the ceremony, Gotion High-Tech also introduced GenDome, its first portable energy storage product for overseas markets, and Gendock 3000, its first portable mobile energy storage product.

Wu Ken, China’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Germany, Stephan Weil, Minister President of Lower Saxony, Petra Broistedt, Mayor of Göttingen, Luo Yunfeng, Mayor of Hefei City, and Li Zhen, Chairman of Gotion High-Tech, attended and witnessed the ceremony.

The Göttingen site, with an annual production capacity of 6 GWh in the first phase, is expected to start conversion at the end of this year

It is noted that the Göttingen site covers a land area of about 174,000 m2 and has a gross floor area of about 40,000 m2. The plan calls for the project to be built in two phases, the brownfield facility and the greenfield facility, with annual production targets of 6 and 12 GWh, respectively. The first phase of brownfield redevelopment is expected to be officially launched in late 2022, and the first production line with an annual capacity of 3.5 GWh will be officially commissioned in September 2023. It is anticipated that the target annual production capacity of 18 GWh will be achieved once the base’s brownfield and greenfield facilities are fully operational.

Dr. Ahmet Toptas, head of Gotion Germany’s Göttingen plant, introduced that the Göttingen facility will be product-oriented, with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality, and will establish a local product research and development team in Europe.

In conjunction with the development and technological direction of the new energy market in Europe, the base will research and develop new energy battery products to serve the local European market, and carry out the production of bus batteries, car batteries, energy storage batteries, mobile chargers and other product lines. In the future, it will also serve customers in the energy storage, commercial vehicle and passenger car sectors. “With Gotion High-Tech’s advanced lithium iron phosphate battery cell technology, together with experienced German staff, strict quality control and Europe’s high quality requirements, we aim to cover customers in energy storage, commercial vehicles and passenger cars in the future to meet the demand of the new energy market in Europe and help Gotion High-Tech accelerate the expansion of overseas markets.”

The first portable energy storage product for overseas markets will be manufactured in Goettingen, Germany

After launching the semi-solid battery and the first intelligent charging station for portable energy storage in May, Gotion High-Tech has continuously launched more new battery products. At the opening ceremony, the Goettingen site introduced GenDome, the first portable energy storage product for overseas markets, and Gendock 3000, the first large-capacity portable mobile energy storage product that can convert solar and wind energy into electricity; it not only helps customers manage household energy consumption and meet the daily needs of households and outdoor users, but also covers 99% of customers’ electricity needs and effectively reduces energy bills. The household energy storage product includes three different models developed and manufactured by Gotion High-Tech’s international business team. In the future, the company will mainly focus on the European market. In a later phase, the product will be manufactured locally at the Göttingen site.

On the day of the opening ceremony, the 5th New Energy Economic Forum, which was jointly organized by Gotion High-Tech, the Committee of 100, Braunschweig University of Technology, Göttingen mbH (“GWG”), the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Germany (“CHKD”) and the School of Automobile of Tongji University, was successfully held at the Göttingen site. The forum focused on topics such as the economic relations between China and Europe, the energy revolution, the transition to low-carbon energy and the new energy market. The forum was attended by senior executives from many well-known companies in the new energy industry, university professors, scholars and relevant officials from business and politics.

Li Zhen, Chairman of Gotion High-Tech, said, “With Chinese technology and German process engineering, we can make Gotion’s battery in Europe.”

Li Chen, President of International Business of Gotion High-Tech, introduced in his closing speech that Gotion High-Tech is a global company that provides energy solutions for suppliers, customers and other partners at home and abroad. “We not only focus on developing and promoting new energy battery products, but also make efforts to develop ToC business at the same time.”

According to Li Chen, since May 2022, Gotion High-tech has successively launched its first self-developed E-PLUS smart mobile energy storage charger for ordinary consumers and Gendome portable energy storage product for overseas market. In 2025, Gotion High-Tech’s global production capacity is expected to reach 300 GWh, of which 100 GWh will be overseas production.

Li Zhen, chairman of Gotion High-Tech, said in his speech that today we have started the application research and development and product manufacturing of Gotion Battery in Germany and Europe. Gotion’s Göttingen site will gradually shift from producing automotive parts in recent years to manufacturing products for battery applications, which is a difficult but promising process. In the process, we need to protect the existing corporate culture, actively shape the development of Göttingen and accelerate the product transformation. “We will combine China’s advanced battery technology with Germany’s advanced process technology to create excellent products and contribute to society to promote the progress and development of the new energy industry.”
