In the summer of 2002, the Rosenhügel Neurological Rehabilitation Center (NRZ) began operations. “Since the beginning, the NRZ Rosenhügel has set standards. As a public-private partnership model, it is an organizational pioneer. Today, with its highly qualified interdisciplinary teams and state-of-the-art equipment, the rehab facility offers our insured inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation for neurological diseases at the highest level,” explains Peter Lehner, chairman of the SVS. “The goal of rehabilitation is to return patients to their professional and social lives as quickly and as well as possible and to offer them the greatest possible independence and quality of life. Rehabilitation is thus a cornerstone in social security and plays a crucial role in secondary, tertiary and long-term care prevention,” says Lehner.
The NRZ Rosenhügel has been run as a PPP model since 2002 and is 100 percent owned by the Social Insurance of the Self-Employed. Operations are managed by VAMED. The operating company is 51 percent owned by SVS and 49 percent by VAMED. In 1999, the ground-breaking ceremony took place and the construction costs amounted to 28.7 million euros. Every year, around 2,000 inpatients and outpatients with acute and chronic neurological diseases are treated and cared for. For this purpose, 147 beds and 30 outpatient therapy places are available. The occupancy rate – apart from pandemic fluctuations – is 99 percent. The range of services includes physiotherapy, occupational therapy, logotherapy, neuropsychology, dietology and rehabilitation nursing. The facility has 220 employees and functions as a training center. For 20 years, innovations have been continuously driven forward and the rehabilitation of the future has been further developed.
