As deputy ÖVP secretary general, she publicly warned of upcoming house searches by corruption investigators
Vienna (OTS) – The week of original personnel decisions within the ÖVP continues. After the appointment of long-time ÖVP provincial councilor Zafoschnig as head of COFAG, it became known today that Gaby Schwarz is to become the new People’s Advocate. She is thus likely to succeed Werner Amon, the People’s Advocate, who has been ordered away to Styria. “This personnel decision is a bad joke and an affront to the people, whose interests she has to look after as People’s Advocate,” criticized FPÖ Secretary General NAbg. Michael Schnedlitz today.
Schwarz is the prime example of a party soldier who puts the welfare of the ÖVP above that of the people, he said. “In the matter of Corona, as ÖVP health spokeswoman, she was at the forefront of that policy with which healthy people were locked out of public life,” Schnedlitz said. Schwarz took the cake, however, in connection with the corruption investigations against the ÖVP. On September 29, 2021, she reported in a press conference about rumors of upcoming house searches in the party headquarters of the ÖVP – combined with the statement that the ÖVP has been deleting data regularly for a long time and therefore “nothing is left”. Michael Schnedlitz: “A person who publicly warns against house searches and thus obstructs or possibly even sabotages investigations cannot become People’s Advocate. The decision of the ÖVP is a bad joke.”
