Klimt Foundation celebrates successful premiere reading with Herbert Föttinger and Silvia Meisterle at Villa Paulick am Attersee

>

“Excitations” by, about and to Gustav Klimt were interpreted at the very place where the world artist discovered his love for Lake Attersee 122 years ago.

Vienna/Seewalchen (OTS) – On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Klimt Museum in Schörfling am Attersee and the 160th birthday of Gustav Klimt, Josefstadt director Kammerschauspieler Herbert Föttinger and ensemble member Silvia Meisterle presented scandalous, humorous and intimate stories by and about Gustav Klimt last weekend at the invitation of the Klimt Foundation. The focus was on texts by Hermann Bahr, Felix Salten and the salonière Bertha Zuckerkandl, among others. In addition, the correspondence of important women in Klimt’s commission-related environment brought a special focus on his collectors and patrons for the first time: Letters from Adele Bloch-Bauer, Fritza Riedler, Mäda Primavesi, and Szerena Lederer illustrated the Viennese world at the turn of the century, along with its desires in terms of the Gesamtkunstwerk of a Wiener Werkstätte. Personal correspondence from Klimt’s private environment – to Maria Ucicka, Maria “Mizzi” Zimmermann as well as to Emilie Flöge – portrayed the man Gustav Klimt, very privately with the longings and concerns of his innermost world.

The setting for the reading, which Helmut Jasbar accompanied on the guitar, was the historicist Villa Paulick in Seewalchen am Attersee, built in 1877, which was a meeting place for Gustav Klimt and Emilie Flöge. In August 122 years ago, both signed the guest book of the villa’s owner, the imperial and royal master carpenter Friedrich Georg Paulick. Court master carpenter Friedrich Georg Paulick. Gustav Klimt went on to create over 45 oil paintings inspired by Lake Attersee. The Klimt Museum in Schörfling currently presents his vacation time at Lake Attersee in the exhibition “A summer like then” with original drawings, autographs, photographs and contemporary vacation paraphernalia.
