Report of 20 July 2022 at 09 hrs.
Vienna (OTS/RK) – In the ozone monitoring area 1 northeastern Austria, ozone concentrations greater than 180 µg/m³ as a one-hour average were measured yesterday at the Lobau and Liesing commercial area monitoring stations. Thus, the information threshold according to the Ozone Act was exceeded.
It is to be expected that ozone concentrations will remain similarly high during the course of today’s day and that the information threshold will continue to be exceeded.
Recommendations for voluntary behavior
Ozone concentrations above the information threshold can cause minor adverse effects in individual, particularly sensitive persons and increased physical stress. Normal outdoor activities, e.g. walking, bathing or picnicking, are harmless even for sensitive persons. These persons should especially inform themselves about the further course of the ozone concentration in the area where they are staying. Further individual protective measures are only necessary if the alarm threshold is exceeded.
Due to the increased ozone pollution, the Vienna Environmental Protection Department asks people to refrain from non-essential car journeys and to use public transport.
Detailed information on the current level of pollution at the individual measuring points is available on the Internet on the homepage of the Federal Environment Agency at
